This exhibition is part of our small format collection of European works. The art pieces date from early 17th to mid-18th century.
The small format not only helped artists reach out to a larger audience, it was also preferred by many of them given the level of detail it allowed them to reach, which was not possible in larger formats. The pictorial maturity of these artists led to the creation of great works of art in a very limited space, challenging them to try new techniques, colors and strokes.
With the detail and delicacy typical of works in small format, this exhibition features landscapes and everyday scenes that depict life at the time.
